Politicians are in perpetual "campaign mode" 24/7! Look at our President as someone who cannot make the transition from candidate to leader, who is neither decisive nor a lead. His every move is factored by polling, as to how his "base" and "independents" will react to his decision...if he ever makes one. Thank God we have term limits on Presidents...and NEVER ALLOW THAT TO CHANGE!
Corruption is like water, it can drip its way into the smallest cracks. Even when the "best intentioned" politicians go to "The Hill", time and power have a way of breaking down the barrier, to allow corruption in. Now, of course, not every single politician is corrupt ( I hope), but there is enough visible evidence, and America needs to take action now.
We have seen how Taxpayer dollars has flowed into ACORN over the years, and you cannot make me believe those in Washington, D.C. had no idea of the corruption going on in that organization. ACORN is basically an arm of the Democratic Party, and was a helping hand for the destruction of the housing market. Don't we wish we could have avoided that downfall?
Then there is "Climategate", which many have no idea exists. Recently, emails were found among "green global warming" scientists, discussing how they could prevent the "opposition" from getting their scientific information to the public. They would keep opposing views out of "industry journals", where their peers and public could not see the scientific opposing information against global warming. How many "green" companies would benefit from the "Government" requiring us to make a gazillion changes, because of "global warming"! We already have to use those crazy mercury filled light bulbs...maybe now they will be reviewed!
Senators given money for their districts to vote a certain way...that just seems wrong to me. That is nothing more than vote buying. Had it been my Senator, I truly would be embarassed to think he/she would not consider what is best for the Country, as a whole, but stoop to take the money and vote for something the people do not want. I consider this a form of corruption...using taxpayer dollars, we don't have, to buy Senators votes!
I say, in 2010, we need to put it to the Candidates, and make "term limits" part of the "PEOPLE TAKE BACK AMERICA" campaign. How can the "people" control what is best of America, when power hungry people like Pelosi, Reid, Murtha, Rangel, continue to return every year? It is constantly one Party against the other, for power and control, forgetting the needs of the American people in the process. That is why it is so difficult to get anything done, because this is a "career" with fabulous benefits for them, and nothing for us! Ask your 2010 Candidates if they will support "term limits" for themselves....let their answer be carved in stone....and then you make the decision. Term Limits assure, "we" the people, will be the focus, and not their "campaigns"! With a "fresh" representative periodically, we will also have new ideas, and less opportunity for "Corruption" to take hold.
